LAPPED TRAFFICCars that have completed at least one full lap less than the race leader. On re-starts the lapped traffic always goes to the inside of those on the lead lap. LOOSE (free, oversteer)This is a handling condition in which the back end of the race car is loosing grip. Imagine yourself going around a corner on a gravel road. The back end wants to slide around and break traction. Some drivers prefer their cars set up a bit on the loose side, particularly during qualifying. When a driver says his car is "wicked loose" he means that it is practically impossible to drive at speed. |
